Legal Resources

The Basement provides connections to qualified corporate or intellectual property attorneys. This service is only available to Basement ventures

Possible topics you can discuss with an attorney include, but are not limited to:

The Startup Legal Garage at UC Hastings Law School in San Francisco is an innovative program that offers free legal services to early stage technology and biotech companies. University of San Diego - School of Law Entrepreneurship Clinic

This clinic provides transactional legal services targeting high technology business startups and other emerging growth companies. School of Law interns, under the direction of an experienced attorney, will provide counsel to a select number of clients. Learn more and apply.


Model Legal Documents

National Venture Capital Association: Model Documents. These model legal documents are broadly accepted by industry designed to offer entrepreneurs and founders a starting point when securing financing.

UpCounsel Legal Documents. These are free legal documents and templates, including SAFE and financial docs,  created by UpCounsel attorneys for entrepreneurs and founders to utlize in their venture.

Amazon Web Services provides startups with low cost, easy to use infrastructure needed to scale and grow any size business. In partnership with AWS, startups affiliated with The Basement (and/or Office of Innovation & Commercialization) are eligible for AWS resources. MathWorks Accelerator Program

The MathWorks Accelerator Program helps your startups advance their development. Your Startups are treated as full commercial customers with technical support and guidance from domain experts while receiving free access to industry-proven software. The San Diego & Imperial Valley Small Business Development Center

The San Diego & Imperial Valley Small Business Development Center (SBDC). The SBDC provides business advising services on business planning, management, lending, and marketing. It also offers training workshops on topics such as technology commercialization, SBIR/STTR writing, international trade, cybersecurity, financial reporting, and more.

Small Business Development Center Services

SBDC offers free & confidential advising, around a variety of topics such as but not limited to; marketing, finance, product development, human resources , angel investment and Small Business Innovation Research Grants (SBIR). The Basement (and/or Office of Innovation & Commercialization) are eligible SBDC advisory support. Services are available to established entrepreneurs interested in improving or expanding their businesses and to aspiring entrepreneurs interested in starting a business.
