Located on the first floor of the Design & Innovation Building, The Basement was designed to welcome, educate, and encourage collaboration and exploration for our diverse student community of all disciplines. With its large open floorplan, coworking space and prototyping lab, The Basement can accommodate you (and your team) to play and dream bigger.
Coworking Space
Open access hours are available for all UC San Diego students who are looking for a space to work on their startup or innovative idea.

Open Access Hours: Monday - Friday, 1 - 4:30 p.m. Closed on university holidays.

Prototyping Lab
The Basement teams get exclusive access to various prototyping tools, supplies, and workspace with many hosted workshops and events held here for all UC San Diego students. Find everything you need to explore and develop your ideas!

- 3D printing with manufacturing-grade materials
- Soldering and electronics workspaces
- Space and materials devoted exclusively to creative idea generation

Triton Startup Incubator
A top-notch co-working space for student ventures who recently graduated (within the last 2 years) or previously participated in a UC San Diego entrepreneurial program (e.g. The Basement, IGE, StartR, StartBlue, etc.) Located in Design & Innovation Building on the 4th floor, the Triton Startup Incubator can give you the space you need to grow your startup.
