La Jolla Playhouse's Without Walls (WOW) Festival
Challenge Overview
The La Jolla Playhouse WOW Festival team aimed to improve attendee navigation and increase campus engagement for the festival. Students addressed challenges related to low awareness among UC San Diego students and difficulty navigating dispersed festival locations across campus. They designed a flexible, intuitive wayfinding system that helps attendees easily locate performances, workshops, and activities while enhancing the overall festival experience. The project also explored creative strategies to boost awareness and participation using unconventional, experiential approaches. The final solution included a scalable wayfinding prototype and implementation recommendations to support future festivals, making WOW more accessible, engaging, and memorable.
