UC San Diego Capital Program Management
Challenge Overview
UC San Diego’s Capital Program, responsible for overseeing construction projects exceeding $2 million, faced challenges due to a shortage of qualified inspectors. The i4X project aimed to find innovative solutions to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of inspections. Students explored emerging technologies to improve inspection processes. They identified inefficiencies in the current inspection workflow and proposed process optimizations and automation to reduce the burden on inspectors while maintaining high standards. The final deliverables focuses on integrating solutions into the existing inspection processes, ensuring compliance with regulations, and improving the quality of construction oversight.
