Peakaboo 

Peekaboo is building a low-cost, AI-powered retinal imaging system that transforms a smartphone into a portable fundus camera. Designed for use by non-specialists, the device integrates optimized optics, controlled illumination, and real-time AI guidance to help users capture clinically usable retinal images with minimal training.

Traditional fundus cameras are expensive, bulky, and largely confined to tertiary hospitals. Peekaboo addresses this gap by creating a compact, affordable alternative that can be deployed in primary care clinics, community health programs, mobile screening camps, and low-resource environments. The system includes automated image quality checks and AI-assisted feedback to ensure consistency and diagnostic usability.

Our goal is to enable early detection of preventable eye diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and age-related macular degeneration, shifting screening upstream and expanding access to vision care at scale.
